From Application to Impact: What Becoming a Green Queen Looks Like

A Journey That Begins with Purpose

Every Green Queen begins with a single step; an application filled not just with dreams, but with determination to make a difference. At the Halima Abbey Foundation (HAF), the Green Queen Pageant is more than a competition, it’s a launchpad for women climate leaders in Nigeria who want to build a greener, more peaceful future.

From the moment you apply, you’re not just signing up to wear a crown. You’re signing up to create change, through science, leadership, and community.

From Applicant to Changemaker

Once selected, each candidate undergoes environmental leadership training for women, where they learn how to turn ideas into real-world solutions. Whether it’s plastic recycling projects in Nigeria, community tree planting in Lagos, or climate education for young girls, every Green Queen is guided to lead a sustainable initiative aligned with the SDG youth leadership goals.

At HAF, we believe that leadership begins with understanding, understanding how science connects to peace, and how women’s leadership can bridge that gap. Every project is designed to build confidence, promote innovation, and leave a lasting footprint in local communities.

Beauty with a Purpose

The Green Queen is not defined by appearance but by action, by how she uplifts others, protects the planet, and uses her platform to inspire real change. She’s the woman who turns awareness into impact, who believes that beauty can lead change and science can sustain peace.

Every year, the Green Queen Pageant Nigeria celebrates these women, the innovators, the visionaries, the leaders who are rewriting what it means to be a queen.

The Ripple of Impact

By the end of the program, every participant becomes part of a powerful network of women-led climate projects in Lagos and across Nigeria, turning individual efforts into collective transformation.

From application to impact, the Green Queen journey is proof that when women lead, the environment heals,  one project, one voice, one community at a time.
