Terms & Conditions

At Halima Abbey Foundation (HAF), we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your experience on our website reflects the trust you place in us. We collect only the information necessary to support your interaction with our platform and to enhance our mission-driven work.

Comments

When you leave comments on our website, we collect the data you provide in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser details. This helps us identify and reduce spam.

To support user profile features such as avatars, an anonymized version of your email (a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service. You can read Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible beside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to our website, we recommend removing any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may be able to download and extract location information from publicly visible images.

Cookies

To make your experience more seamless, we may use cookies in the following ways:

  • When you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies so you don’t need to re-enter them in the future. These cookies last for one year.

  • If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is used to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain personal data and disappears when you close your browser.

  • Upon logging in, cookies will be set to store your login information and screen preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen settings cookies for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” will extend login cookies for two weeks. Logging out will remove these cookies.

  • When editing or publishing an article, a cookie will store the article ID for one day to aid functionality.

Embedded content from other websites

Our site may feature embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles) from external websites. This content behaves as if you were visiting the external website directly. Those third-party sites may collect data, use cookies, or track your interactions, especially if you’re logged into their platform.

Data Sharing

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email for security purposes. Also, your data are shared for the purpose of marketing and evaluation based on the program or initiative you have applied for. We do not sell data.

How long we retain your data

  • Comments and their metadata are stored indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.

  • If you register for an account (where applicable), your profile information will be stored securely. You can view, edit, or delete your data at any time, except for your username. Website administrators may also view and edit user information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You may also request the deletion of your data, unless we are required to retain it for legal, administrative, or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be screened by an automated spam detection service to maintain a safe and respectful online environment.
