Reflections from the Lagos International Climate Change Summit 2025 — Women at the Heart of Climate Action

Women at the Heart of Climate Action

At Halima Abbey Foundation (HAF), we believe that women hold the power to heal our planet. This belief came alive during our visit to the Lagos International Climate Change Summit 2025, where leaders, innovators, and advocates gathered to confront one of humanity’s greatest challenges.

Walking through the Summit, one could feel the pulse of a global movement, a movement driven not only by science and policy but also by people, communities, and everyday heroes. For us at HAF, it was a profound reminder that climate change is not just an environmental issue; it’s a human one.

We saw women entrepreneurs building climate-smart solutions, youth advocating for greener cities, and policymakers emphasizing community-led resilience. Each story reflected the truth we hold dear, that women, through their creativity, compassion, and strength, are already shaping the path toward a more sustainable future.

Our visit reinforced our mission to celebrate and empower women as climate leaders across Africa. Every conversation, every initiative showcased at the Summit, strengthened our resolve to create spaces where women’s voices are not only heard but amplified in the climate dialogue.

The journey toward climate justice begins with inclusion, and we are inspired to keep walking that path, hand in hand with changemakers across the world.
